The Ethiopian Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ESOMS) successfully hosted its 4th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference on September 20, 2026, at the Saro-Maria Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Highlights of the Event:
- Scientific Sessions: Seven presentations covering contemporary OMFS topics.
- Panel Discussion: Focused on “Strategic Pathways in OMFS: Building Sustainable Services and Education in Ethiopia.”
- Digital Platforms: Official launch of the inaugural ESOMS Newsletter and the new society website (https://esoms.org).
A Historic Turnout: The conference convened 50 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from across the country—over half of Ethiopia’s total workforce in the discipline. Given that OMFS was introduced in Ethiopia just ten years ago and ESOMS was established in 2022, this turnout represents a monumental step forward for our clinical community and education ecosystem.
