Founded in 2021 by 17 visionary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialists, the Ethiopian Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ESOMS) was established to advance the specialty, safeguard professional practice, and expand access to specialized surgical care across Ethiopia.
Since its inception, ESOMS has rapidly grown into a dynamic clinical and scientific community, marked by significant national and international achievements:
Annual General Meetings & Scientific Conferences: The society has successfully hosted three Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and scientific conferences, providing a premier platform for local research, clinical exchange, and professional development.
Global Summit Hosting (2024): In 2024, ESOMS hosted the prestigious 7th African Congress of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This landmark event convened global leaders and international delegations from major surgical authorities, including:
- IAOMS (International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons)
- AAOMS (American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons)
- EACMFS (European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery)
